TV, Google, and bendy straws: Bay Area inventions in history!
Google, TVs, and straws all originated in the Bay Area. From the minute people could write, TV was a means of communicating information. Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory was the first to create a television frequency. The first commercial was aired on KQED-TV in San Francisco on May 8, 1951.
According to Google, the bendy straw was first used in an advertisement in 2001. The advertisement showed a group of people dancing with a straw sticking out of their mouths. The straw was seen as a comic device that allowed the viewers to participate in the dance.
In 1960, David Letterman premiered the first episode of his show "The Tonight Show." The show was a major influence on late night programming and has been watched by over 27 billion people. In 2008, Ted Turner passed away, but his contributions to the late night TV era will never be forgotten.
In 2020, calvelo drink used Bendy straws in an advertisement. Calvelo drink is a carbonated drink that is meant to keep you hydrated andEnergy up on your journeys.
